Friday Night Youth Program
The mission of the Friday Night Youth Program is to prepare young people in grades 4-12 to make healthy and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them Christian principles and values.
The Friday Night Youth Program strives to prepare each youth who participates in the program to become a responsible and active citizen and leader who is guided by ongoing relationships with caring and trained Christian volunteers.
Friday Night Youth Program’s volunteers are the strength of the program and share a common commitment to Christ and youth development. Our strong belief in Christ created the vision for this ministry and our compassion and sincerity guide our steps and direction. We believe in the dignity and self-worth of each youth and his/her intrinsic potential for excellence.
We also believe that participation in Friday Night Youth programs and activities cannot make an individual change; each person must choose to make changes. However, Friday Night Youth Program facilitates and supports the change process by providing a safe and conducive environment for engaging in positive recreational activities, social interaction and educational enrichment programs.
These core values are supported by the following Christian principles:
Teamwork and Excellence
Equity and Equality
Innovativeness and Creativity
These basic core values and central Christian principles are the guiding premise for this ministry. They should be respected and demonstrated by each youth and volunteer who participates in the Friday Night Youth Program.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Friday Night Youth Program is held every Friday night from 6 pm-10 pm at the Chambersburg YMCA.
Completed applications must be returned or mailed to the Chambersburg YMCA, 570 East McKinley Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
